Head of Finance

This small education body based in the heart of central London is looking to recruit an experienced Head of Finance to ensure the smooth running of the finance function, manage a small team and complete all accounts up to statutory accounts (SORP 2005) including managing the small subsidiary trust accounts.
You will report to the Managing Director and the Board of Trustees and will also take on the role of Company Secretary.
This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished finance manager with broad accounting skills and great interpersonal skills to take on a pivotal role at the centre of a £10 million turnover company. The organisation operates on a not-for-profit basis with accounts split between the School Accounts and Trust accounts.
The finance team of three consists of accomplished bookkeepers responsible for accounting to trial balance. Your responsibilities will also include reporting to the Board monthly with the School management accounts and reporting to the Finance & Property Committee quarterly with consolidated Trust and School accounts.
On a day to day basis you will be responsible for overseeing all accounting functions. As the payroll is complex candidate are required to demonstrate prior experience in this area. You will also have responsibility for year-end preparation; group consolidations; VAT returns; payroll and staff management. Though this is a Head of finance role it requires a hands approach, you must be prepared to get involved at every level.
Qualified level accountant
Management accounting
Statutory accounting & liasion with auditors
SORP 2005 (preferred)
VAT returns
Payroll management
Qualified CCAB accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA, CPA or equivolent)
