Job Description
Reporting to the Deputy General Manager, the main purpose of this role is to provide support to the Chief Actuary, in delivering reserving, pricing, planning, management information and other functions of the department.
Roles/Responsibilities
- Be responsible for the actuarial support to the Dublin Office.
- Manage and mentor the Actuarial Assistants
- Provide support to the Irish based Underwriting Teams in establishing prices for large accounts
- Be responsible for the provision of support to the underwriters in assessing the performance of their books of business, including the undertaking of product rate reviews as requested
- Develop assumptions and data to assist in the planning process
- Review and /or produce management information as required
- Review the monthly rate monitoring analysis, and look for opportunities to enhance this
- Liaise as necessary with other departments within the Company
- Any other reasonable requirements as detailed by the Deputy General Manager or the Chief Actuary
Skills/Experience
- High level of actuarial technical skills
- Very good understanding of general insurance
- Very good knowledge of actuarial techniques for reserving
- Good knowledge of actuarial techniques for pricing
- Good computer skills - Excel proficiency is assumed; VBA and Access proficiency are desired.
- Very good knowledge of internal data systems
- Good communication skills, both verbally and in writing
- Good problem solving skills
- Able to delegate to and supervise more junior staff
- Proactive in identifying opportunities for improvement
- Team player
Educations/Qualifications
- Recently / Nearly Qualified actuary
- Experience working in general insurance
