Holidays
Payment in temporary employment is typically calculated on an hourly rate, or salaried on a pro rata basis if in contracted employment. Your recruitment company will process your pay on your behalf, deducting any tax or National Insurance due.
If you are a temporary or contract worker and would like to know more about rates of pay including holiday pay contact us for further information.
What is my paid holiday entitlement? (UK ONLY)
The Working Time Regulations state that temporary employees are entitled to 5.6 weeks of paid annual leave, which can be taken as holiday. Temporary employees are also entitled to sick pay and maternity pay.
Any time you require time off work, you should discuss your request with both your manager and with your consultant at Morgan McKinley. We can advise you on whether you have accrued enough holiday entitlement to warrant time off work and help you get the process started so that your pay reflects your hours worked and holiday hours taken.

Making tax payments in temporary employment (UK ONLY)
You pay tax through Pay As You Earn (PAYE) and National Insurance (NI), which are deducted automatically from your pay every week. If you are not from the UK and this is your first time working in the country, you will need to register for a National Insurance number before you commence temporary employment. You can find out more about this via the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP), www.dwp.gov.uk.
Even though you may only be in a temporary position for a few days, it's still vital that you maintain your tax and National Insurance payments. Fortunately, the recruitment specialists at Morgan McKinley can make this easy for you. We'll arrange your tax and NI payments for you, the details of which will be reflected on your weekly pay slip.
